Ben Howard’s “Promise.”  Hauntingly beautiful, and the youtube description of it as a “night time song” is completely accurate.  I love the idea of the driving footage in this video, though it does get a bit old after five minutes.  Still a gorgeous song though.

As some people have heard me say too much the past couple days, I really adore Hey Ocean!, particularly this adorable song.  It just makes me happy.  So listen and be happy, please.

This is a video a certain someone suggested that I post awhile ago…sorry about the delay there.  But it’s fantastic.  Just Colin Meloy (of The Decemberists, obvi) playing The Crane Wife 1, 2, and 3.  My favorite part is when he asks for suggestions and, after hearing requests for Crane Wife, asks which one and people respond, “all of them!” So he complies.  Gorgeously.

I know, I know - I’m super behind in posting (Tallest Man on Earth, summer playlist, Girls, tUnE-yArDs, etc.).  But I just got through a hellish week and am now on spring break, so that deserves one of the happiest songs of all time - “You Make My Dreams Come True” by the classic Hall and Oates.  Sure, I could have posted that scene of JGL from a certain movie, but this video (albeit terrible quality audio and video - sorry!) is so 80’s and awesome.

whatiswritten asked: You should post some steezy Tallest Man on Earth. That is all. No wait, love is all. See what I did there? <3

oh yeah, good call. I could honestly post, like, everything he’s done and not feel bad about it. but I won’t! I’ll pick some faves and put them up later today.

so, The Shins’ new album, Port of Morrow officially came out yesterday, any thoughts?  Pitchfork went crazy for it, surprising no one.  Honestly, I’m not sure I agree.  I’ve only listened to it once so far, but it has a very different sound from Wincing the Night Away, which I adored.  There are definitely some good tracks - “Bait and Switch,” which I posted about a couple weeks ago, and “September” are both good, but overall I’m not sure how I feel about the different group sound.  Definitely deserves another few listens, though, so I’ll see how those go.

I’m not sure why, but this has always been one of my favorite Of Montreal songs.  I think they’re pretty ridiculously awesome, heavy emphasis on the ridiculous.  I really like the line “I don’t want to catch you with some other guy’s face under your eyelids,” mostly because it makes me giggle to think of something literally underneath someone’s eyelids.  But it’s also a good lyric.  Anyway, this video is a little weird, but I like the song.

Not going to lie, I so prefer this to the original.  (disclaimer: I’m kind of ambivalent to MGMT.  plus I love a good ukelele.) Ooks of Hazzard cover MGMT’s “Kids.”

brimattia asked: i've heard you have a pretty cool sister.

it’s true.  I wonder where you heard that from.  also, my song recommendation here makes less sense lyric-wise, but it’s the first song I could think of called “sister” …so the black keys’ “sister” it is.

brimattia asked: you're so hipster it hurts.

my only suggestion on how to deal with that is to listen to “Hurting” by the Friendly Fires.
